Technical Model A generator oiling?

    I just installed a generator in my roadster and was wondering what oil and how much oil to stop the squeaky sombitch. Anyone?

  2. If it has the oilers on the bearing you can try motor oil on them

    But chances are the bearing are snafu

    Might it be belt squeal ?
     
  3. The 1932 Model B used the same generator as the Model A and my Model B instruction book calls for engine oil in front and back. Yours may have sealed bearings. Any chance the squeal is from the water pump, or the belt as Vandenplas suggested? While you have the oil can out don't forget the distributer and the throttle shaft that passes behind the engine.

    I oiled the squeaky bastard and it is now quiet. Thanks all.

    Usually when I check the engine oil, I take the dipstick and oil the generator.....
    Nothing ever locked up from over lubrication...
