  3. I would love a chrome one for my Tudor! Sadly mine is a tad rough but it will look good when I am done.

My roadster has a painted shell, but most of the ones I saw before the mid-70s were nickel or chrome plated.

thinking no hood or possibly just the top....i painted it this morning , but the grill looks too monochromatic...might have to do a search for a nickle or older chrome :D

Originally only the standard A pickups and trucks(AA) had painted shells. Sedan deliveries, station wagons and Deluxe versions of pickups, panels used the plated Passenger Car style shells.
All 28-29 Passenger Cars had nickle-plated shells and 30-31 Passenger Cars had stainless steel shells.

My '28/'29 shell was painted when I got it. When sanding it down for new paint I discovered nickle plating underneath. It was in poor shape so it went in the blaster and then was painted.

I think the little bit of colour up front is good with the chrome headlights.

I think painted looks too Streetroddy. Chrome is the way I would go.

Here's my Tudor. I changed the shell after a minor accident in the shed with a jack ( but I'd rather not talk about that!)

nope...Model A radiator shells juust gotta be chromed - that monochromatic look is horrible, still don't understand the purported appeal of a 57 Chev with the grille and bumpers all body color. May as well try to bring back lace paint. Makes the whole car look like a poorly done plastic model.

  15. Go with Nickel plating, chrome is a little too bright for me and a painted shell only looks good on a non shiny car without a hood and side curtains.

My coupe has a rusty chromed one ( repop from the 70"s ) , and sedan has painted .

  17. I like the look of an aged nickel plated shell. For some reason they just look A Model to me. Sorry, no pics, I still haven't figured out how to do that yet.

I like plated/chromes ones much more...but mine has seen it's fair share of abuse, ao I'll be blasting it and painting it till I can pick up a '32 shell.

painted ones are OK, but I like it when they contrast the main color...otherwise they look very 'streetrod' to me.

Been running this painted shell for about 8 years. Finally came to my senses. It's at the chrome shop right now. Painted 29 shells are so '90's.
