Model A Hemi Steering Gear?

which small steering gear can i use? the space between boxed model A frame & 354 Engine is really tight...

 

Can you fit a Vega box in there? I can't think of any that are much smaller and still durable enough.

Do you want to run side steer or cross steer? You should still have enough room up at the front to run cross. There are several boxes used for side steer, all realitively the same size, you may be headed for cowl steering.

 

This is a pinched 38 ford frame with a vega box and it clears fine with the 354 hemi.

Some have used VW bus boxes with success, they bolt on under the frame rail. There are some pics of them installed here on the HAMB, with some searching you should find them.
