    Jeff...
Best flames on the HAMB IMHO. They look great!

safariknut: Thanks for taking the time on all the details! No hood. Definitely no flames on the roof. Dark colors...probably very similar to the picture in post #9.

Yes! Now yer talkin'...pretty close. Maybe still a little too refined. Most I've seen were all red, and the licks didn't overlap. And as far as flames on the hood, where's the fire comin' from?...the radiator?...lol. Don't get me wrong...I'm no hard-nose on this stuff...I like 'em all. But the original idea of flames was that it was emanating from the engine, and licking back onto the cowl...and not down the whole side of the body. Glad you posted a pic. I searched online for "vintage nose art" and "early indianapolis 500 paint flames", etc. Couldn't find a thing.

Edit: I do have to qualify all my b.s. by saying it seems that flames on hot rods was more of a '50s theme. Not so much immediate post-war. So I like 'em without flames too...maybe more. I'm just sayin'...if I was gonna flame my roadster, I'd do 'em old-style.

I thought long and hard about flames on my Tudor.
I really like flames but ended up going with pinstripes.

Flame it, but you've got to watch your lay out. There's no in between -- they're either right or way wrong. Oh, and did mention, flame it.

Do whatever rolls yer sox up and down, unless you're lookin' to sell soon after completion. If that's the case, count the votes on this thread, and put my vote on the no flames column. I like plain, one color, or if ya gotta add something, I like some mild scallops.
At the end of the day, what's best about hotrodding is doing it your way. And don't be afraid to dare to be different!

Flames can look good, but I think scallops look even better on a pickup.

Flames and red cars get old to me...just my opinion...

  14. Don't do it......It will get real old very soon and a one color paint scheme will be more timeless and add value if ya had to sell it later.
to apreciate the one color scheme ,think of it this way,it'd be just like your girlfriends tatoo on her *** saying "Dave",and your name is Bill......then you're stuck lookin at the flames every time you drive the car like em or not
