model A manifold question

please excuse my ignorance, but would a downdraft carb and manifold for an A motor be an aftermarket piece? did they all have updrafts from the factory? Got a line on a possible deal.

they were all castiron updrafts with a 2 bolt flange....

 

And NONE of them ever left the factory with one of these...!
