The car has been in GA for at least the last 25 years, so there probably isn't a ***le anyway...at least not one that is in use. Anything pre-86 or so they typically won't issue one.

I was just throwing numbers out there, trying to get some idea on the ch***is. If I buy this thing (and the owner hasn't given me a price, only a rough idea what he has in it), I will get it running, clean everything up, and drive it down the street with a prospective customer, so it won't be just an "it was running great when parked" kind of deal. Its going to take some work on my part, but again, I want to do the right thing for the owner. I would think a fresh, original, running 4 cyl would be worth a grand by itself, at least.

The body may need some repair work, and there is some light surface rust on it, but its solid...I didn't even find any pinholes. Its a definite keeper.

Like to see some pics once you get it out of the garage and in the sunlight.

I'm going to talk to the owner again this week, and see if we can work something out. He isn't advertising it; the only reason I knew it was for sale was that I ran into a mutual friend at lunch yesterday, and he told me about it when I mentioned my business. My very opinionated dad said I didn't "need" another project car, but this isn't going to be built right away...it will be put up, while I collect the other parts I'll need to do it right. I'll keep you guys posted, and put up more pics when I get it out of the garage and clean it up some (probably in a couple weeks, with my crazy schedule right now).

I'm really curious exactly what it was that stopped the restorer in his tracks when going to mount the body...whether it was the wood blocks previously mentioned, or something else. Either way, I'll find out in 2 weeks, when I am back down there and can get a better look at it, and some better pictures. At this point, I'm really reconsidering trying to keep the body...I may just get it running again, see if I can figure out the issue, and put it up for sale as a whole, running vehicle. I won't have the time to do this one justice anytime soon, and would rather see it go to someone who will put it back on the road (hot rod or restoration).

I also think that the center panel in the rear has been replaced with a modified sedan panel. That beltline molding is not right back there.
