Hey guys need some help. So gunna go pick up a 31 model A in oragen am in California so everything's good but seller says no pink slip just bill of sale witch is okay but I asked do you got a vin and he said no that's on the motor and there's no motor so 1st question is that true and 2nd how do register it then what's the prosses. Now I know if I build a custom bike u just take it to get checked out and they'll give you a vin for it but if your custome bike doesn't p*** they won't so just trying to avoid that. So I can put it on in-nop build it how I want and be okay. Thanks

theres a vin on the frame under the body on drivers side. Then lien sale that thing. The registration places do it for like 100 bucks. Just tell them that the storage fees are more than the car is worth so if some old owner wants it back you dont get screwed. Get the address off the guy you buy it from so they have someone to send the notice to if the vin doesnt turn up a last known owner. Then you need a cop to do a vin verification or take the vehicle in to chp, or a vin verification place. Do this as a first thing while its as close to stock as possible. Then you can get a pink slip.

Just get the numbers off the frame, u gotta lift the body up. Take those to dmv and the bill of sale. If its out of system, they will refer you to CHP. Chp will verify the vin, take that to dmv. Simple. ***le comes in mail couple weeks later. Notice I said "if out of system" then you end up with the og vin of the car and not a new vin tag.

And since it comes from another state, there is that fee and the taxes on the purchase price.

Why would it be in the system if from another state?

To the OP, had you used the search function with the words ( model a vin ) in the ***le, you would have found 41 threads that have covered this from every angle.

The search function is your friend:)

Mmmm. That's funny, cause I just typed in the same key words, and didn't see 41 threads that covered this from every angle. As a matter of fact. This thread showed up, and one other one. So how does the search function help me? Seems pretty useless to me. But hey, I'm a drunk Pollock.
