    Hi everyone.

I have a 30 model A coupe. Just re-packed the rear bearings and I have a question about the rear hub grease seal- part b1175.

The part I got from my supplier is only one sided, it doesn’t seem right to me. The one I took out of the rear hub has a back side (front and back face) and all images I’ve searched appear to have a back side on the seal as well. My parts guys wasn’t sure about it and I don’t really have any recourses to ask since I’m just starting to mess with Model A’s

Anyone know if this is part is correct or not?

Thanks- appreciate any advice you have on this.

Can you post a picture of what you removed? It's called a "chevron seal" and why would need a two sided seal in the rear brake drum? What you are trying to accomplish is to keep the grease from migrating into the rear brake's. By the way, the better quality seal's have a spring to keep tension on the seal lip, you might want to purchase the better seal from Brattons.

This is exactly what the seal that I pulled out looks like. I’m at work so don’t have an image of the one I pulled- but it’s identical to what’s shown.

he shows both sides of the seal at 17 seconds in.

The seal you show in your video is the better, spring loaded quality seal, that's the one you want. By the way, before you install the seal, place it in the freezer for a half an hour and you won't have to pound it in.

Appreciate the help- I’ll order in the spring loaded ones. Thank you.

I do want to correct the parts guy if this part number is incorrect in their system, that way the next guy to order it doesn’t get confused. Will the part they gave me work? Face goes toward the bearing and the open side to snap ring?

Some companies sell the cheap seals and use the same part number, technically they are correct, it will work. I know Bratton's has the correct seal.
