On my 30 Tudor the rear portion where the spare tire mounted is rusted. I have the replacement panel but I’m looking for some guidance please on how to separate the old panel from the heavy sub structure that runs under the body? Or do I just cut out what is rusted and weld in a 8D77BD77-195F-4BDE-8D9D-A649571C77E4.jpeg piece of the new panel? Thanks.

Most of a Model A body comes apart with some bolts removed. There are a few rivets, and every now and then a hidden spot weld.

It is so easy to do a complete disassembly, and then you can sandblast all those joints. Then epoxy prime before reassembly so it never rusts again.

thank you very much for the tip. I see a plate with some Phillips screws sandwiching the two pieces I’ll start disassembly

That's not an easy chore. Bolts rusted in place and rusted and rounded off heads. Spot welds that can no longer be seen, broken off bolts rusted to the cross member and almost impossible to save the hole if you manage to get them out. If you have a new panel, do yourself a favor and cut the old one out along the crossmember to give some room to work. The side bolts can be a pain sometimes, too.

The hardest part on my A so far is fixing all broken and buggered up bolt holes.
I am Getting better at drilling and tapping though.

Thank you for the advice. Looking from the inside of the body it looks like a shitty job. A lot of cutting and drilling of bolts/screws.

That’s what I’m about to embark on.
