Not much help on that link. 47...48....and 49 and....49 1/2 inches. I am getting close to doing this job, so would like accurate info as well.
Are you looking for the eye to eye length of just the main leaf when it is un***embled? Full spring pack ***embled and off the car? I have a main leaf laying on my garage floor right now so I can measure that for you when I get home from work.
Use a 'T'. Flatter and prettier, holds its end-to-end dimensions. But 2" leaves' width, opposed to the 'A's 2.25".
T 44 1/2 inch. A 45 1/2 inch. They can be off a 1/4 either way depending on sag/use over the years. They interchange width wise, as mentioned the T lowers the rear 2 inch and its a 1/4 inch narrower width where it bolts into the cross member.
I'm getting ready to locate mine. I was told the dimensions were 48-1/2" or 49". I was putting mine at 48-1/2". I hope that's right.
Try this.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/model-a-spring-perch-width.603855/ Seems to be 49.5" keeps coming up and it's the number I remember. I measured mine because I duplicated that dimmension on a stronger rear axle. Turned out, I couldn't get the car low enough, so I s****ped that idea and went to coil-overs. I still have the brand new spring and it's still for sale.
Yea thats the reason im asking...I have removed 4 leafs and reversed eyes on my A springs but would like to get another inch or so lower if I can. Just wondering if a T spring would make that extra inch
You can rearch the A spring, I got 3" rearching mine with a pipe bender.Next time I will reverse the eyes as well. You can use a press too, whatever you have or can borrow. Put more arch up near the top and flatten it further down, like a T spring is.
