I'm sure this has been asked before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything. I'm building a one-off frame for my 30 "A" coupe, and I'm locating the rear axle. Previous owner hacked the hell out of the quarters, so I can't use that to judge where the rear wheel should be. So... Of you 30-31 model A coupe owners, could you please take a measurement from the door jamb to the axle centerline parallel to the ground, if possible? Thanks in advance guys, I really appreciate it ~John~
What he said. The spring sits over the axle if I remember right, so it should pretty well line up with the rear crossmember, too.
That wescott page might be helpful, I think I can figure it out from there. I don't have the original frame, the one I'm doing is a 4130 tube frame, and the original floor structure for the body was gone when I got it. So as far as what you would typically use to locate your rear end proportionally to the body, I have none.
