I have a stock Model A frame with a stock spring that has reversed eyes. It is all mounted with Pete and Jakes ladder bars and standard shocks and the spring perches on the Ford 8 inch rear. The problem is the height of the rear, it could cause a nose bleed for some people. Anyway to lower it with out a great expensive change over. Thanks!

With the reversed eyes you're already an inch lower than stock. If the spring is still a full pack you can yank 2 or 3 leaves out and get some sag that way but pretty quickly you run out of up travel because of the lowered spring rate. I think you can manage another couple of inches but beyond that you're going to have to Z the frame.

How about a T-spring with reversed eyes and maybe dropped ends too.
Two leafs less will make another half inch lower maybe.

  6. i don't know how your chassis is set up......but yes, a stock model A spring mounted on top of the axle with a un-Z'd frame will probabilly sit too high.that was fine in the 70's

Z'ing has been sugested..that works..or you could extend the frame and mount the spring behind the axle

do you have pictures you can post?

  7. Is the body on, and the gas tank... etc...?

If not, set some weight on it to see where it'll sit when loaded.

You can cut the spring perches off the rearend, too, and move them down... if you have travel.
