This truck was at a Car show swap meet at the Minnesota State Fair grounds in Oct 2008. The owner said it was a blast to drive. I believe it.
With a rebel yell we got mo...mo...mo!!! Hope I'm not duplicating but I don't believe these were posted.
i just picked this up last weekend. bought it up north at the swap meet. didn't have to pay 2000 for but it a little ruff. its going on a A frame high boy like so many on here. just have to get the 51 moving again.
getting the full fender treatment for the summer as we speak, along with 7.50's in the front 8.20's in the rear
My '28 AR. I need to get back to work on it. Put in the built banger last summer, and now need exhaust and a header, and a few other things. Still has the multi disc clutch that so far works geat. She's a snotty little runner. A work in pogress, but aren't they all??
You're worried about fenders for summer??? Did your Grandma pitch in the throw pillows? Or did Martha Stewart have a 75% off sale for her signature d****ries at Walmart? I'm just kiddn with ya. I don't even have a seat in mine yet so I shouldn't be opening my big yapper. I thought I'd razz you a lil. Chris
Chris - It's stock height. I would have chopped it, but being 6ft3 I left it alone, at least for now. I drive it, and don't so much like bugs in my teeth. I would like to do a chopped one for it, and have a frame to do it with now. Being the car is a super early AR, and a total resto back in the late 60's, I took all the stock stuff and hung it on the wall, for someone to mess with after I die - and didn't want to F the stock windshield up. The irony is that the old boy did the resto from a hot rod from the early 50's - channeled, exhaust through the rear panel etc. Funny how things go around, but he found all the correct AR parts and diligently restored it. I didn't degree the posts, we just pie cut and laid back til it looked good and I still (barely) had knuckle room on the steering wheel. I would have to say 30 degreee ball park, but I can check it for ya if you want! Tim
Thanks Tim. I got ya beat, I'm 6'5"...but I am chopping my windshield a couple inches and wanna lean it back pretty good to. I don't need an exact degree, I was just kinnda curious. Do you have a dead-on side view of your 28? Your cars lookin good!!!
Hey Thomas S&C!, what are you running for wheels and tire sizes? I am changing mine out and like the way yours stand....great whip!
Chris - this is as close as I have to a dead on side view - I can take another if you want it - more of a windshield shot. Remember, this is the one that really showed the sticker that WAS on the battery!!! Yours will look cool chopped - you KNOW what that's gonna make me do. I have a set of bent spokes I might toss on with 6.00's up front. Gotta figure out a *****in' exhaust set up, and a few other things then it's just drive, race, have fun, rinse and repeat.
Are those mechanical brake rods I see? How does it stop in modern traffic? You hear all these so called "experts" that believe you have to have monster disc brakes and dual m/cs on a car for it to be safe. I'm just wondering how well these work everyday. Thanks, Mike
Thanks Tim, That'll do for me...just wanted to see what it looked like layed back. I'd be excited to see some 6.00's on it...my favorite size for a non-fender car. Looks like a clean driver. Mine will hopefully look something like that, only with 17's and way ****tier!!!! It'll be a beater for now until more money/time/space comes up (if it ever does )
Mike - Mechanical brakes indeed. I like them, and have them on my '36 Coupe as well, and on the '32 I had for years. No worry about fluid dissipating. The key with them is if the brakes are good, adjusted well, good clevises, and driving intelligently. Yeah - if you do 70 (this car will hit that easily) and drive like ya have discs - you're gonna get burned. They are what they are, and I like 'em - I have had them that work for ****e, and understand those who don't like 'em. An intelligent understanding of m***, mechanics and such are the rule. If I was drinving LA or New York freeways everyday, I might think differntly. Tim
