Projects Model A roadster pickup (Help/Advice needed)

Decided to fit up the nicely painted head light stands I bought and replace my dodgy home made units,
One headlight much dimmer than the other. Put my multi meter between the light bucket and a clean ground on the block, read 1.3 volts, bad ground, looked in the bucket no proper ground from the lamp holder. And thick paint on all surfaces of stands. Ground wires installed paint removed from some contacting surfaces. Now lights bright (for 6volt) an voltage of 13 millivolts between buckets and block.

 

Stole this idea from someone on here but do you think I can find it and I even subscribed to the post.
Anyway spring loaded pins and some bolt on tubes, seems to work.

You used the proper way to check a ground circuit; a voltage drop test. Most guys say check your grounds and they mean take everything apart and clean it rather than actually checking the circuit. Great work!

 

I don’t know who you plaigerized the lock setup from, but I’m going to plaigerize the idea from you! Really nice

Ok on to the windscreen, the one on the project is from my roadster, I am attempting to make one. My roadster screen was repaired by me long ago, so I can’t be sure the dimensions are correct. If someone could run a tape across an original (ish) screen frame top and bottom it would be helpful.

I Used 22 x1.6 tube and slotted in my mill drill, the bottom curve was bent by hand in my vice.

Well I think that turned out pretty well.
Now to make a template and get the gl*** cut.

 

Gl*** will be ready next week, apparently they scan my template and cut it out with a water jet.
Found an old wiper in my stash so I cleaned it up and tried to nickel plate it with an old kit I have, some what worked.

 

The windscreen came out pretty good I think, water jet cut gl*** is very accurate to my template.

Was wondering how you were going to install the gl*** without the normal channel piece installed into the tubing. The tubing itself looks very well done.

The other thing I wondered about was how to install the fairly wide rubber seal between the bottom of the frame and the body? Originally that seal was also slid into a partially narrowed channel in the bottom tubing. There's a pretty big gap there and the rubber across the bottom also can have a big impact on stopping the windshield from flying back when any speed or wind is involved.

 

I used tile wedges to center the gl*** in the channel. Then used black silicone to fix it in place.
The rubber strip can’t be installed on the bottom of the screen, on my roadster I replaced the bottom channel in the same manner, I applied a rubber strip between the dash and cowl, not as per original but no one has ever noticed the difference, I know that I could have bought a replacement but I am trying to not spend any money.

Got a repo tub, seems pretty well made, it’s in kit form and I may shorten it a little.
I just need to work out what size and shape frame goes under it?

Just moved your comment here, before we derail this month's banger thread - hope that's okay.
Could you show the structure beneath the bed, besides the aformentioned apron supports? I'm planning an A bed build, but due to shipping prices, I'd most likely cobble something up my self, if I can get a little help.

Ok its not finished but I have settled on a simple 50 x 25mm shs steel frame with 8mm rivnuts for mounting.

 

Two reasons I raised the bed. I like the look of the raised box against the height of the roadster body and secondly, I installed a new plank floor and did not want the spring arch through the floor. The original wood block follows the line of the apron, not the frame, that is why the bolt pattern is erratic. Again the original blocks were 38.5" long, 3.625" wide and 1.75" high. I don't know what the cup was for but I did not make one in the new blocks which are 44" long, 3.625" wide and 3.25" high. There were two small blocks to hold the taillights and I don't know if they were factory, but I extended the new blocks to do the same job. I undercut the new extensions so the extra 5.5" was not visible but still held the lights. I am sure you can make a new bed and in that case I would integrate the aprons. I have seen many home made boxes maybe just not with the Ford script.

I could take some rough measurements of the end profile of the side panel if you like, remembering mine is a repo so may not be exactly as stock?
