Ok, here it is outside. A good trick I learned from Zach, shove it outside and stand back. Way back. Looks different outside under sunlight then in a packed garage.
The windshield looks great....And the stance is perfect. Nice to see a car that ain't sittin on the ground.
It looks good outside you might try setting the hood on outside also I still think it would work with 1" more taken out.....but the concensus seems to be leave it as-is you can always chop it more later before plating but when the cars more complete.... better then going too much now fooled with it a little to get a better flow of the body panels color wise lowered slightly... little bit more in the back tried to take only 1" more out of the windsheild... heres what I believe is a 2" chopped windsheild and then manny betes i "think?" is about 1" more??? both pre-war built i believe
Zach, thanks a lot. I have an inner panel I bought at a swap meet that has a brown primer on it and it actually matches the body very well. I'm thinking I'll squirt the quarter and other repairs with that to "blend in". I am hoping to find a nice full hood soon, I know that will make a different car out of it. I am hoping the rear goes down a little (like an inch) with the full weight on it. If not, I may take a leaf out, thats what I did with my coupe. Guess I could reverse the eyes too.
torching the spring is always an option (amocat did this i think too?) this is Bill Farren's car in 1941
We had a spring company make the main leaf to look as if it was torched. Let me know if this is somthing you want to do Chris. We will send you the info. Thanks Steve Glucoft Amocat Speed Emporium
Yeah Steve, that would be slick. PM me the info or stick it in this thread when you get time. Thanks, Chris
Yes I will be there wednesday -saturday. I think my dad will have a green 1940 ford pickup for sale at the expo swap.
These '40's style roadsters are SO overdone here in the NW..... Haha!!! Looks killer Chris!!!! Yer livin' the dream man.... Now quit screwing around with that stuff and build a FAST hotrod will ya!?!? One of these days I gotta come visit.
These are fast enough. Had my coupe up to 65 going down I-90 last Saturday- fast as I need to go Come over for a Spokane event...I can show you some neat cars/places.
There ya go! That's awesome. What's the measurement on that now, at the stanchion? Have you got a shot from the side? I'm going to have some windshield chopping to do in a week or two.
Chris, I'm lookin' forward to hearing the Banger run, seeing as i can't be there in person you'll just have to post another U Tube video!!!!!! Nick.
The photos remind me of the nights during high school we spent with our Industrial Arts teacher. We chopped and channeled an A coupe and pickup using bailing wire for solder, because we couln't afford the real stuff. That was back in '60, can't remember if it was 1860 or 1960 tho.
REMEMBER WHEN??? YOUR GRANDPA USED TO FILL THE WASHES WITH A & T BODIES TO STOP IT FROM WASHING A BIGGER DITCH. YOUR DAD BURNED UP THE REMNANTS OF GRANDPA'S OLD BARN THAT HAD COLLAPSED ON A HALF DOZEN MODEL A'S AND T'S THAT HE USED FOR PARTS TO KEEP ONE OF THEM RUNNING. WHEN I RESTORED A 59' CORVETTE WITH MATCHING #'S AND HARDTOP IN '69 AND SOLD IT FOR $1850 AND CLEARED TWO MONTHS PAY ON IT AND IT LATER SOLD AT BARRETT-JACKSON FOR $62k AND HADN'T BEEN TOUCHED SINCE YOU SOLD IT. YEH, I REMEMBER WHEN. IF ONLY I'D BEEN AS SMART THEN AS I AM NOW, DAM...
Hey if you guys don't have a flip video camera, you need to get one. They are cheap, like me and take great video and stills and are the size of a cell phone. Fantastic for car shows and rod trips.
