I have been posting a bit about changing my F1 hubs to 5 on 5 1/2 to match a already narrowed diff I have access to. Going to bite the bullet and have a custom 9" with F100 stud patten and use my F100 axles, axle tubes with my smooth back Galaxy pumpkin. So keeping the traditional early Ford stud pattern all round. This will be for a Model A RPU with cycle guards, running tires no wider than 650 x 16 I was thinking of making it with the pumpkin dead centre in the transverse spring (offset tailshaft) and 57" axle flange to axle flange, the spring hangers have been cut off a original A diff Will a diff at 57" flange to flange cause interference with the spring hanger mounts mounted 49 1/2" apart to the brake backing plates?
Bump, to simplify the above, my question is "what length 9" diff (axle flange to axle flange) is in your Model A with spring over axle?"
