Not sure that I'm a smart guy and I must like the color of rust. I had the opportunity to acquire a (what I believe it to be) a 1930 Model A 2 door sedan. I had posted a few questions asking about it before I pulled the trigger. This is going to be a stupidly slow build as my sons and I are currently working on a Model T. So why do I call this "Made in America, Part 2". I purchased the body in the state of Maryland, I then acquired the chassis's in West Virginia, and have gather a few other parts from the state of Virginia. Who knows where else the rest will come from. Talk about a multi-state jig saw puzzle. Here is the current plan of attack: Lower the stance, going full fendered, unfill the roof, keep the banger, S-10 T5, wide five wheels, juice brakes, keep the banjo rear axle, and hopefully drive the snot out of it! Enjoy the pictures
Excited to see this one come together. Good luck with it Chris. Im looking for more fenders for ya too.
Link to my original thread. It has more pictures of how I found it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/help-needed.1009712/
Forgot to mention. Add one more state to the list of parts. I have some wide five wheels coming from North Carolina.
Welp I took some of the parts off of the trailer and literally threw them together. I now have a roller. It only cost me..... well my middle son really. His middle finger tip, nail, and some chunk of bone. They stitched him up and we were back on it the next day. A thank you goes out to Nailhead Jason. He has been helping me come up with some of the miscellaneous missing parts
Hell yeah man! I got your other fender here when ever you need it and I scored a banger intake with a buildable carb for ya too. Didn't know if ya had one or not so I figured you might could use it or parts of it.
Thanks Jason. One of the engines has both the intake (no carb) and exhaust manifold. However I know the exhaust manifold is bad as it has a rather large and long crack in it. We need to get together so I can pick up the other goodies and give your son the Mutt grille
I'm home all this weekend and next weekend is jalopy showdown, I won't have room in the roadster to bring stuff up there if you end up going. But you can leave it here as long as you want. Jake is pumped about the grill too! I'll dig up an exhaust manifold for ya, I think my buddy Jim has one just hanging up in his garage.
Threw the body on today. The boys and I are liking the looks. I also picked up an AA bell housing from Montana. Yet another state to add to my build list.
Great start! Looking good! Check out "Ron Brown" 's build on here- lots of suspension info, and a super cool sedan. Another one by "onekoolkat1950" that's full fendered, chopped, and runs a banger. The A's the Way! ( 6 and counting) This one's got a Mustang 302 and 4 spd ( very UN traditional, but affordable at $500.)
