On a Model A sedan, fenderless what tail lights would you use?
    I have 50 Pontiac's,39 Ford,37 Ford ,41 Chevy,(won't use 59 Cad)
Stock A,one only in the center?
    Down low? Up high?
If the lights are up high, where does the license plate go?
Any good pictures out there? Or ideas?
    Thanks,

    Heya...
On my Sedan, I was thinking along the lines of moving the stocker (it's not in too bad of shape, a good polish and a new lens should make it look pretty nice). I was MAYBE thinking of having a single tail light with homemade adapter that mounts the stock tailight/license plate holder to the spare tire holder. It's directly in the center, and when the supension and channel is done will be around 15-20 inches off the ground (the man in WV says I need AT MINUMUM 20" between the center of the light to the ground). BUT, I don't know how it'll look, I'm WAY behind you on progress (still doing rough metal work, just got started), so it might look like **** and I s**** the whole idea anyhow. Easy to hide the wires since the mount is hollow, and it'll look a bit different. Just a thought...

I've always thought that a set of '48 Ford car taillights (rim and lense) would look good in the lower panel. I'm not sure about the size but they look close.

Another cool option would be a set of '50 Pontiac's in a custom nerf bar that would incorporate the license plate as well.

I used 50 Pontiac on my 30 A Coupe. I'm partial to those.

loogy, your pic of 48 lights is something I have been thinking of but since he did not say anything about them I did not mentioned it. I was thinking of enlarging the lower lip to allow th3 48's to fit.

  10. Some different choices..

'59 Buick - like the '50 Pontiac but pointed and larger

'55 Dodge - small round lights with a chrome bezel

'58 Ford ovals, one on each side. French them in sideways, that'll keep 'em guessing.

Actually there's tons of cars with round lights in sizes from 3" to 6" in the 50's and 60's... just a matter of how visible you want them to be when driving -

I'm running this in the center, down low with the liscense plate directly under the housing. what style are u going for? traditional? go with and early tailight low and to the side or center. surf rod? then french a 60's tailight right in the center or midway up on the sides. try to photoshop something. It took me a while till I found just the right tail lamp.[IMG]

Since I know that deep down you are a Corvette guy, how about a set of '63 'Vette taillights? Kind of new for the type of build but who knows, they might just open up a whole new type of business for you......... Rileys 'Vette Parts.

    VAP,

Here is what I used. Stock Model A tail lights on stock fender stands. I took two of the stock tail light stands and cut them down so there was just enought room to get the bolt behind them to mount the light on the stock flange.

I've got 39 Ford blue dots on my A coupe I relly like, and had 50 Pontiac blue dots on my previous A. They both have a nice clean look (especially the Pontiacs) but they've also been done to death - I guess because they look so good!

I'm saving a pair of old K-D lights I got off an old school bus, they're teardrop shaped kind of like the 39's but are more round and stick out more.

Try sticking some on with some double sided tape and kind of stand back and see what you like.
