Hey fellas, did a search and found a few guys using the original speedometer to a t-5 trans. Well I cant get mine to work wont screw on to the trans side, any help would be great......have a good weekend wrenching boys. Brian (29 bones)
back up please....I have read the stock cable screws into the t-5 housing ....but this is not true at least for me.........HeLP...HELP... This needs to work for me and soon..... thanks Guys .... thanks Brian
I used the original cable on my 28 coupe and hooked right up to my 350 trans.. I know this isn't any help but it worked for me.. The speedo was only 2 mph off also.....
A good friend of mine in my model A club said that his hooked up fine but that he had to reroute the cable and that it was just long enough to reach. I am****uming that the reach is not your problem. If that is the case then what year T5 are you using ? Again I am****uming that you are using an S-10 chevy tail housing. They came with either a mechanical or an electronic speedometer hookup. The early were mechanical and should hook up. Dick .
yes its mechanical and a s10 tail shaft....just cant get it to screw in looks like the same thread but maybe its a 30 30 cable????came on a heap of stuff I purchased, threads in fine in the speedo side and then i hook It up to a drill and spin the hell out of it and it reads fine ......just cant get it to screw on the tail shaft side,?????thaNKS DOR ALL TJHR INFO AND HELP FELLAS....BRIAN
Both the speedo sleeve and the cable nut should be 7/8s 18, so one of the two must have some screwed up threads
