I used the original cable on my 28 coupe and hooked right up to my 350 trans.. I know this isn't any help but it worked for me.. The speedo was only 2 mph off also.....

A good friend of mine in my model A club said that his hooked up fine but that he had to reroute the cable and that it was just long enough to reach.

I am****uming that the reach is not your problem.

If that is the case then what year T5 are you using ?

Again I am****uming that you are using an S-10 chevy tail housing.

They came with either a mechanical or an electronic speedometer hookup.

The early were mechanical and should hook up.

Both the speedo sleeve and the cable nut should be 7/8s 18, so one of the two must have some screwed up threads
