well after 3 days of trying to figure out why the car wouldnt fire i figured it out the duraspark module was no good went out to the auto parts store and picked up another one re wired the whole set up after that i installed the new 350 holley carb i just got in the mail and a couple squirts of gas and boom it fired up,o man my heart was racing it sounded so good for a lil 4 banger tomorrow i will get a video and post it up....

EXCELLENT! For a minute I was thinking "Dang, either his mic is bad or that engine is quiet as a tit mouse." Then I saw you crank it and thought "AH...ok, there it is." :) I hope mine progresses this quickly after I accrue all my parts. Keep it going! :)

The car is coming out nicely. After you get the fuel pressure to 6 psi, pull the float bowl, and check the main jets. Holley 53 mains, a Holley 65 power valve should get you pretty close to what it needs. Set the idle mixture screws 1 turn out, and tune the idle from there (it will take a little bit of tweeking to find the sweet spot. 2.3's seem to like to idle best in the 800 - 1000 rpm range). Also check the accelerator pump setting, it sounds like the pump nozzle holes could be too big causing the bog. Since the 350 2bbl is designed for a engine about twice the size of a 2.3, the 2.3 tends to prefer a good shot of fuel right off idle speed, make sure that accelerator shot has a small but strong stream. You might need to find a accelerator pump nozzle with smaller holes, if the pump nozzle holes are too big the fuel will turn into drops quick (poor fuel atomization), and that will kill throttle response no matter what pump cam you may use.

    Great job lorodz!
Nowhere near finished on my current project but I'm already gathering parts for the next one. It'll be along the same lines as you're building, early style with a later 4cyl motor.
    Keep the updates coming!

well ive been trying to get some work done on the car but i started a new job welding full time. 6 days a week 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m im at a company that is rebuilding the world trade center buildings there putting there,so havent had time to do anything, than on top of the crazy job schedule i had to spend $2400.00 dollers on my dog chopper he needed emergancy bladder surgery i couldnt let him die from a bladder stone blocking his pee path. so on top of all of that crazyness i had only today to work on the car i got all the brakes bled out and working i plumed the radiator to only find that the damn thing leaked so it will be sent out tomorrow ..its been a crazy couple weeks ....i just need a brake for a couple days and than ill be back on it ....thanks for reading my small rant .....

    WORD! :)

BTW...did some Photoslopping. I read the comment someone said about getting some larger tires on the back or smaller ones on the front....don't recall. I just adjusted the photo for effect, even though I didn't change the tire size, so you could see what it might look like. However, I think it looks awesome right now. I wouldn't even futz with it until you get a smashing deal or the tires blow out. I got all kinds of cool stuff I want to do to my 50...just waiting for the existing parts to break ;)

it looks awsome thats the stance i hope the 7 50 tires in the rear will give it, it already has a dropped axle so i can go any lower in the front ...hey if you can photo chop put a roof and splash aprons on the side so i can see what it will look like with the parts i have still not on ....

Yeah, I figured you already had a drop axle on it....I should have been nicer and done the tires instead of accentuating the drop. However, I think that changing the size of the tires will make it look the same, except the look of the tire size.

Are you doing a removable hard top or something? let me futz with it a bit more...
