I bought a 1930 model a coupe. It has a 50" kingpin to kingpin dimension with a spring perch to spring perch dimension of 36".
Can anyone tell me what axle i have under my car?????????
So-cal tells me they don't have 50" kingpin to kingpin dropped axles the best i can do is 48".

I also got a dropped axle with the car that is 47" kingpin to kingpin with a 35" spring perch to spring perch. The extra reverse eye spring i got with the car appears to be a 36" spring perch to spring perch.

I would like to drop the car 7" front and rear with the use of suspension parts. And then channel the car the rest of the way.

Anyway does anybody know what i have????

    Thanks, rob

  2. it sounds like you have a stock axle in the model A right now , and the dropped axle you have is a Chassis Engineering axle. you will need a 30" spring with the CE axle

    pictures?

  3. Dropping the axle narrows the tread width, does it not? It would stand to reason that as you forge the drop into the stock axle it would narrow up some. Right? Thanks, Mike

the guy at so-cal told me that a width of 50" is not typical of a stock 1930 model a.
he said it sounds like a 32 or newer???????

    any ideas on this?????

    thanks,

i guess my question should be does anybody make a 50" kp to kp 4 or 5" drop.

i was just curious what year of axle i may have based on dimensions. i do plan on putting a dropped axle. just some questions.

You really don't want a stock-width axle. They are too wide and if you drop the car at all, the tire's will not clear the fenders. If I were building from scratch, I'd go with a narrower axle, I think they're 46", just to get the tires under the fenders more. That's waht the sedan in my avatar has, and with 15x6 fronts, it's just about perfect.
