I'm looking to build a mount for my steering column which will attach to a steer clear box by Wizard fabrication. I cut out the bottom of the gas tank, but left the original column mount. should I build a frame under the dash to support the column? Does anyone have pictures of theirs?
    Thanks

You could use the longer style 31 Model A column mount that mounts to the dash rail flange bolts instead of using the clamp on the tank. Do a search on the Barn there are great instructions with pictures and dimensions. Its a common fix to take the steering column stress off the tank mounted clamp to prevent leaks. You'll need to make a 1/2" thick by 3/4" wide by 8" long (if memory serves me correctly, which is not always the case) flat bar bracket with a couple of holes for mounting to the rail bolts and 2 threaded counter sunk holes for counter sunk head machine screws to act as studs to mount the column clamp's mounting flange to the bar. The spacer is needed to place the column clamp in the right place to meet the column. Nothing complicated to fab & install. Re-pop mount is available from the vendors or originals at swap meets.

Forgot to add that when you install the dash it will hide the mounting bracket spacer and bolts for a clean installation.
