I am getting started on a 1929 A coupster project that I bought a few months ago. It has a stock "A" rear spring with some of the leafs removed. leaving 5 leafs. Can anyone tell me what the approximate compressed spring height would be so I can figure out how much to "Z" the frame? It will be run in a "coupster" project. Guessing about 2600lbs total when finished. Couldn't find this in tech archives so any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks much!

  2. For proper ride and sway control the shackles should rest at a 45 degree angle. The drop, measured from the center of the perch eye to the center of the spring eye will be about 1 3/8" to 1 1/2".

Sorry, didn't explain myself properly. The rear spring is out of the car (car disassembled) so I have no way of knowing the compressed height of the spring with weight on it. I need to know the actual compressed height from the center of the spring eye to the top of the upper leaf in the spring. Any idea??
    Thanks!!!

  4. Those Model A rear springs are very stiff. You won't have much drop at all. Under an inch would be my guess. Not much weight on the ass of these cars unless your carrying dead bodies or hemi motors in the trunk. Add a couple leaves and take them out as needed. You'll be alright if you do that.
