I could use some assistance with with my tie rod on my model a. The stock position of the tie rod and my cool oil pan want to occupy the same space. I "fixed" this years ago by welding a bent rod in the center that worked well but would flip and slap the crossmember. No binding issues just annoying and maybe not safe. What to do? Run it again or shorten the steer arms and if so can I loose 1-1/2" on the arm length? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410211552.788370.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410211583.322492.jpg

Turn the bend part of the tie rod down to a 45˙ angle so it's pointing toward where the tires touch the ground... done.

Yes and thanks! That solves the thump. It will still want to flip under load but you made me think of why and how to fix it.

I'm reluctant to say this because it's got to do with purchased street rod parts.... If you put after market 40 type spindles, and deep dropped steering arms, the tie rod would go under the wishbone giving you plenty of clearance. Chassis Engineering makes really nice parts. Good luck
