I think you'll find his weight to be a good approximation. My full fendered '31 coupe w/ 2" x 4" tube frame 3/16th wall (so heavy) weighted 2700# w/an SBC and a Muncie alum case trans. The roadster, with an eye on the scale during building, open wheeled no cast iron, AL 4 banger, AL vette rear and mostly open '32 rails is <1500+ lbs. With luck, anywhere in the neighborhood of 2600# is reasonable.
My Model A fenderless coupe weighed in at 2480 on a certified scale. That was with a full (16 gallon) tank of gas, but before I added some sound deadener, aluminum interior panels, and an aluminum hood. I'd say it's at 2550 now. Craig
My 1931 tudor sedan (all steel) full fendered, SBC/TH350 weighed 3100 full of fluids and with me in it.
I was surprised to find out my altered in my avatar was 2006#s with me in it after a pass. That's a cast iron headed 392 that is full of hardblock. I go in at 180# It adds up.....................
My 30 Panel on cert. scale, Pontiac and a heavy 4 speed hydro 17 gals fuel 127 Lbs, no driver 3060 lbs.
My fenderless '30 A Tudor (3" chop, filled roof, steel innerstructure, steel floor, SBC, TH350, Ford 9", no interior just bench seat, 17 gal fuel cell 1/2 full, with me and the wife) weighed in at 2760 lbs (1460 lbs front and 1300 lbs rear), on a certified truck scale.
My roadster pickup (avatar) has a steel cab and steel box with glass fenders and a small block Chev/turbo 350---It weighs in at 3100 pounds on a certified scale.
my 31 rpu weighed 2250lbs with 2 people in it. 1 being a large dude and i so it was actually around 1900 lbs with a full stock tank and a sbc.
Wow, that's a lot. My '30 closed cab pickup with 'glass fenders/steel cab and bed, a SFB and toploader weighed 2740. How does yours weigh nearly 400 lbs more with similar stuff and no roof?
Zookeeper--I really have no answer to that. My frame is an original A frame, boxed full length. The rearend is a 1988 S10. The box on mine is made of a much thicker steel, #14 ga., and the valances below the box are made from #12 ga. steel, but I doubt that can explain away 400 pounds. My rear fender spacers are made from 1" square tube with a 1/8" wall, and since I had to pretty well eliminate the subrails when I shortened the sedan body to make my pick-up cab, I used a peice of 3/16" steel plate as the "floor" and built the body up around it. I guess its just that a lot of little "extras" add up.---Brian
I don't have my Ford book right in front of me but I think it says the shipping weight stock is around 2800 lbs give or take.
My '30 model A coupe in my avitar with 12 gallons of gas, 350 sbc and 700R4 tipped the scales at 2360.
