Hi there, Ive got this engine from a '30 model A. Can somebody tell my why the exhaust manifold looks like this and not like the typical "tube" style ive seen on others Also, pulled this tranny out of a '31 5window coupe. Whats the lever on the shifter? Is this a truck tranny with PTO?
The manifold is made that way to make the heater work better. It was essentially a sheet metal funnel around that manifold and let air from the fan blow through the firewall when a little door was opened.
Ford made a special rear bearing retainer and u-joint to put the AA 4 speed trans a passenger car or pu. Looks like you might have them. Allows you to use the car rear end and not shorten the drive shaft. Must also use the AA bell housing. I have this set up in a '30 pu.
