The AA frames are not the same they are completely different. The rear springs mount fore and aft instead of transverse.
The frame is double the size and weight of a standard A frame. For the little price of an original A frame just find one and save all the h***le.
The reason I asked is these says you see the big trucks parted out to build small trucks and wondered if stock ch***is was useable in conversion.
There are of course two AA frames, '28-9 and '30-31, with plenty of differences. Don't know much more about them... They have some attractions. Both are stouter than A without being ridiculously large, they follow the right general shape to take bodies, and once cut to length you can have a full-length frame allowing easy use of either A or V8 type springs by adding a crossmember and also giving frame support all the way back of your body or bed. I think they might well be a good platform for a rod.
If my coupe had solid subrails I would set it on the early 30 AA ch***is and show what to expect for modifications later this week. If I get all of the welded on farmer modes off of it later this month, I may be able to help with your decsesion. There was a guy in Omaha who put his roadster on a AA ch***is, but I never seen much for details on what he had to do and what the outcome was. Rod
