Very cool, too bad you didn't put the drop rails back on. I guess it depends on which era you're going with. Still a pretty sweet build!

We may recover the seats, not sure yet, I'll look into the fan mount, most of the engine is just hand tight atm, thanks

Ok, shouldn't be too tough to switch around on final assembly. Thanks

It's been a long time since I've updated, we've finally got things pretty much all built for the 1st time, now we're blowing it apart to finish/paint the frame, engine, suspension. Then onto the body work and paint. It's been a long road, but there might just be a light at the end of the tunnel.

And here's our flathead all yanked apart. It's a 49-53 with 50,000 original miles, finally got to see the inside; apart from being a bit dirty, the insides look pretty[ IMG_20170318_145232.jpg IMG_20170318_145237.jpg IMG_20170318_145246.jpg IMG_20170318_154415.jpg ATTACH=full]3482530[/ATTACH]

Thanks! The hood wasn't too bad, my dad used aluminum, cause it's what he knows, but it bent and shaped pretty nicely. I'd like some louvers, but I'm not sure how the aluminum will be after a bunch of louvers...

I need some advice on my front calipers...

Where do you guys recommend I mount them? In this position, they hit the kingpins, should they rotate 1/4 forward or backwards?

  14. If go a 1/4 turn "backwards"

Complete flathead rebuild, most mechanical done, body work time now. I've cleaned the filler out of the drip rail channel and bent up new ones. Also, removed door poppers and installed handles

Took the flapper wheel to it... I guess I found where the lights used to be...

I've got a new patch panel on order...

I agree with getting that dried up mud out of there, but I don't understand the reasoning for removal of the primer. I guess unless you were looking to find all the areas of poor body work and/or rust, than yes, by all means go ahead and strip it and start over. But just sanding down the primer because you don't know what kid it is, that doesn't seem right to me.

I have a friend who works for PPG. We weren't sure if the primer was epoxy primer as it wiped off a bit with thinners. So to avoid the chance of bad primer shrinking or reacting against the new PPG epoxy, we figured safer to sand it down....

    Update:

Got it running before I put it away for the wintet - pretty excited. This is the first time it's ever driven in the 8 years I've been building it :)

This is 1 coat of epoxy primer. Body is back off now, getting ready to paint it this summer.
