I’ve been meaning to post up my current build for a while now, but I’ve been so busy trying to get it finished before the first race on April 13 that I haven’t had time until now. Anyway, here’s what I started with. The build began on December 28,2018 BEE74592-F3C3-4A90-9EBE-61394E1BADAA.jpeg BF9B0BF3-F3D9-400A-8989-21A991F491CD.jpeg 01CE96F1-2847-4A34-8C70-F717715A7698.jpeg 7F13EF28-322B-4B0A-A186-5EA3E0751C82.png

Bought a pair of model a style rails from studleys rods to save a little time. Mocked the parts I had up to start getting a general feel of where this thing needed to go 46686222-48E3-4463-8148-149EC898F831.jpeg 6BF2E0BA-62C4-4B8F-BE4F-1EAE466DDEBB.jpeg 07DC053A-D367-4394-AB56-662657F0B02D.jpeg EC321DE8-10B6-4E50-B61A-0AD84A3ABD05.jpeg B51FBBFC-418D-49F6-8646-5BF6672D4555.jpeg F8E7F061-8656-40E6-93E1-3FE1FE5E06B2.jpeg 21B1DA63-18CB-46C3-BBB0-0CC840534A4E.jpeg DB708B0B-FA4E-4609-A067-E046478E1C0F.jpeg

More cutting and getting things figured out as far as location of everything ensued. Ended up z’ing the rails in the rear to make life easier 1FE34FA3-6EF5-4CB9-AE78-F0CF12FF7590.jpeg 09AABE62-5755-4D62-A727-9D7381BC8582.jpeg 60B3B82C-51A8-4574-8F2E-D9C72F27B2E2.jpeg 172C9B88-94ED-4994-84D4-936D431D460C.jpeg D549A614-F7CD-4F4F-9782-87F5DFEBDBDA.jpeg 5E9FB7B4-3231-48B7-B7CA-4DABA901B4EF.jpeg

Quain Stott, Donovan Stott, and Cameron Brown have all pitched in. Had my buddy Tyler Horne torch out brackets as we went where we could which saved a lot of time too. Got the engine where it was going and turned some nylon down to fit the mains and some tubing in order to get driveline angle perfect. Went with long 2x3 ladder bars. This was probably around the first few days of January 2019

Started getting the rear end squared away. Building this thing as light as possible. Hoping for 2250 lb with me in the car at 210lb and an iron headed smallblock. Tony Turner (quick and dirty) came through with the wishbone ends I was needing. The looked roached but came apart easy with a little heat. Got the engine and transmission in their new permanent location. 1BC6D630-DF5E-4A33-BA97-71CAA792EE38.jpeg E62E3546-F514-4580-995D-109BA32D1B29.jpeg 1CA635F9-C0D0-4FBE-8AFF-6AC893C3EDEE.jpeg 7B5C83FA-8E13-4A69-A973-E642AC8792B5.jpeg 0DB663E0-93C8-4ADF-945B-CA6296BBC45B.jpeg 766C775F-D06E-401D-A46E-B8353F38717C.jpeg D78FA637-4C70-42DD-83D6-83B8FB3F8453.jpeg C065BF6E-19D7-4A6B-B211-ACD3B2109306.jpeg D9F22C06-6F30-47BA-BB9E-8DADB8EFC44C.jpeg F1979E8E-A4B9-440F-A5DA-8414C80E0D88.jpeg 7F28D4D8-1D40-4BB1-A1FD-5D347A206249.jpeg 8CF58ED0-B7F8-46AD-AC9A-5B6FC239E994.jpeg 6A5A25B2-DEBA-4E84-9149-7D0F30937B5F.jpeg 276EBB2C-CF65-4A21-BAE3-C5F860CD66C9.jpeg 11164596-C67C-43B1-8706-8DA85B77A20E.jpeg B739F4B6-0B40-48B0-91B1-53931CD264CC.jpeg 9FC0775C-E48A-4093-B5DF-0A19E8ADAFD2.jpeg DEC438D9-80B6-412A-8A99-AC70BFB817C9.jpeg

These updates happened around Jan 10. Got the front axle located and sprung. Worked in rear end a little more. Made the pedals, it’s a simple design that works great. Still rolling along minus a short break to run to the SEGA awards banquet. Most all of this work is occurring between 5:30 and midnight after I’m off work, and the weekends. Got my new axles in. Started metal repair. Made my own patches bc I couldn’t get anyone to call me back to order any. Made the rockers removable, I probably should’ve used aluminum for weight, but hindsight is 20-20. Got in a hurry on the passenger cowl patch and forgot to put the body line in, so I’ll either remake the panel or just make the lip of bondo If irun out of time. Whatever hack did this thing the first time felt the need to hammer every body line other than the belt line flat. They had also pinched the body in a mile at the bottom, patched some places 3x over each other etc. 7820CFB8-7F19-48B2-9DE4-FE4855AEF50C.jpeg 21D96083-C4D6-4EF3-9DBA-CBDADB21B9B4.jpeg 261011BE-5B2F-4CC1-855E-D15A0D745CC9.jpeg 01F54813-E3B9-4843-BDBB-47FABF9D1968.jpeg 81B2A2E8-E804-4B7A-AC5F-9559E438A37D.jpeg 983EF328-5976-46CA-B6AB-FB3DFEB8A014.jpeg 1D4CE12F-57AF-44DE-89D2-62E299C60FBE.jpeg 8CB74579-CF4D-4E68-BEB3-15F7DCFB60C1.jpeg FA4667F0-22A5-4287-9352-5164364857C6.jpeg D7C2E67D-2EEF-4FC2-B1D9-8D9E2D53FC0A.jpeg EF3886EE-15CF-4FE3-9678-93BFD3F24B5A.jpeg A04C7F0A-D16F-4F05-BA83-25BD3988A8F8.jpeg D996505E-C1E9-45BB-A277-78E63BF0EC6D.jpeg 206BAF16-0444-4587-BECB-5FF9A0CEB2C1.jpeg 5073A729-6AB1-42E0-98F6-7FFD3CCD12E3.jpeg D06E65D2-ED7F-47BE-BAF2-9924B376DAF1.jpeg 1E589D9A-4EBE-4C54-A11D-D38883760AE5.jpeg

    More metal repair. My skills aren’t up to what I wish they were so most of the more complicated pieces are made in 2 parts, but it’ll be good enough on a race car, and it’s a far sight better than what was there 643422B2-9854-4B0D-9B29-307345C5F223.jpeg C1A62673-12CD-414C-97A1-27F3966D2A27.jpeg 6224F92D-EADD-40F2-9AB4-A53875CE2118.jpeg E42133A8-2088-44F5-AFE3-0F85396CCD05.jpeg 34536585-3572-41FE-854D-74418853C77A.jpeg 703401DC-4178-4DD8-9E2D-5FBE43915D4D.jpeg 41469B71-F590-4092-B9EF-0588275C4E54.jpeg F5232820-181A-4085-9DB2-4AC5B47137D0.jpeg 3D4846D2-6E46-4582-87A0-184E0B852315.jpeg DD2BB9A5-9AAB-42C3-808F-CC37D15017E4.jpeg F3CE0513-ACC4-4AD3-BF22-3027111C534D.jpeg 378BD6DE-CE14-444A-BAE2-947741DD2632.jpeg DB703C8A-2956-4034-932F-3E682EDFE290.jpeg 51DC72E2-E794-4ED3-BEEC-CB92484A6A26.jpeg AE89DC4C-E335-4F32-B70A-196D478F6562.jpeg F2C16D97-176F-4197-AE88-6F0339F2E1E5.jpeg 41FAC255-D542-47F8-87EF-B68331AD98DE.jpeg F5638499-A89D-4FE2-985E-43A0EF0E6F8F.jpeg 89F2C439-3ACF-497B-837C-01F5D9EFF2A3.jpeg 7228B508-3783-42DD-8B28-08A341099776.jpeg 75111EFF-5F2F-4B24-BF91-963817452E34.jpeg

Started filling the roof. Decided to try and do a Vicky style header to avoid the wind on the visor. I don’t like how it looks though so I’ll get a visor put on it ASAP. Good stuff. Donavan looks like a mad man. I hope you keep the Southern Flyer name. Snowman

Worked a short night tonight, gonna try to catch up on a little rest after a long weekend of work. Got the aluminum roof insert wheeled into shape. Its amazing how sturdy a panel is once you give it some contour. 0FABB4D0-C8C7-4284-A814-ED3F6E54CD84.jpeg 44EFDC93-843F-4A90-9E6F-79B56C5386C6.jpeg 9DEAAFA7-074D-4E57-BDD3-4074FB1AC92F.jpeg E1A76F76-CED6-4001-A9FB-34457B230863.jpeg

  29. What are the SEG rules on body mods? A 32 header and laid back A-pillars would make it more aero and smooth it out a great deal. It's already chopped and the drip rails have been removed.
