I need to get a windshield for my 29 Tudor. I need to know if the 28-29 and 30-31 windshields are interchangeable. If not, how do you tell them apart? Also, has any one ever used one of the repopped aluminum ones from Mac's? I will need to cut 4" out of the winshield when I get it. I am ***uming that I can simply cut the upright side post, re-miter the tops, and drill for the screw to attach the top rail back in. If this is the wrong way to go about this please let me know. If any one has a windshield they need to get rid of let me know.
    Thanks,
    Tracy

Being 30-31 is about 1 1/2 " wider I doubt they are the same. If you can measure the opening there is a chance I have one. I can even bring it to Indy the 20th.

I believe the frame is the same. The hinge (that mounts to the roof header) is different.

I used a Polished Speedway frame, and it worked. Polish was good, but the outer area on the lower corners had to be worked in by my gl*** guy.

I wanted to chrome an original, but the shop was hesitant to drop hollow 75 year old tin in to the tank.

    Hope it helps

  5. they are basically all the same for closed cars , except there are two heights...14-3/8" and 16"...your tudor will need the taller one.

the difference is in the upper hinge and in the little brackets on the sides that the windshield sliders attach to

  6. Here in Finland they chromed original windshield of my -28 A with no problems. Actually it was quite a good, looks fine from far but you can see erosion spots near. I don´t worry, my pick up will not be a show car.

Does somebody know the size of gl***? I didn´t have gl*** at all when I bought the windshield. It would be much easier to make a model if I knew the measurements.

I will measure it tonight and let you know tomorrow. Are you coming to the swap on the 20th? I will be there on the 21st. My dad sets up there for all of the meets but I cannot get off of work to go on the 20th. I will be there all day on the 21st. If you have one I could meet you some where. I'm still trying to get at least a half day to go out on Friday.

I measured the windshield opening on my car this morning. These measurments are the front edge of the opening. The top is 44 7/8". The bottom is 44". The sides are 11 1/2". The middle is 9 1/2". Let me know what you have got or e-mail me a picture. tracy_turner@praxair.com.

If ya end up needing the hinge part that mounts to the header, let me know. I have an extra you can have for shipping costs if ya need it.

I have a few windshield frames.

    1- 30-31 Top 44 1/4 bottom 42 1/2 sides 14 3/4 center 12 3/4

    2- 28-29 ? " 43 1/2 " 42 " 14 " 11 1/4

    3 ? " 43 1/2 " 42 3/8 " 15 1/2 " 12 3/4

These are frame sizes, if you use a gasket it will be about 3/8 to 1/2 on each side.

What kind of shape are the 28-29 frames in? Is there a hinge? I am sending you a PM with my number.
