Guys, I am wanting to do a visor for my Tudor that looks a little different and was wondering what was out there.
I recall seeing a visor on the HAMB with ACE of SPADES cut into it.
If anybody knows where to find it as I would like to take a closer look.
Any other ideas would be good to check out.
    Thanks.

  3. I made this out of alloy then rolled wire into the front and rear edges,I just put the holes in it 2 weeks ago.It is abit deeper than standard which is the look I was after. It had a sideways vibration which I fixed with a centre mount.I hid the mount behind the skull, not old skool but who gives a toss.

We buy the plain visors and put whatever size and amount of holes the customer wants...

Nice so far, maybe I should have just called it hotrod visors as I guess any T stuff could work onto a model A visor.
I saw a graft of a 30 model visor onto a 29 tudor and that looked sweet, but too plain for me.

...yeah, but the 30-31 visor on a 28-9 car still looked ALOT better than a 28-29 visor. All any 28-9 Model A is missing when running a 28-9 visor is a cow-catcher bolted to the spreader bar. ARGH!

I welded mine solid in, and rolled the edge where the body and the visor meet...to give it a better transition(in my opinion).

    Sure looks nice a 30 visor on a 29.

I saw a HAMB thread somebody did on a model A build project, it could have been a pickup, this was only a couple of weeks ago and he had that ace of spades style visor fitted, but I can not seem to find it to take a 2nd look.

If anybody finds it please forward me the link, I would be most appreciative.

Henry thought so,too. That's why the 30/31's are different!

I welded a '30 visor on my 29, too. I filled the roof at the same time, and welded them all together, along the front edge, and along the windshield post. It looks smoother, I think.

Finally got a couple of pics of my visor I plan to use on my pickup.
Turns out to be a lot of work but I guess it will be worth it, although if I did another one I am sure it would be easier.

If you ask me the best looking ones are a plain 30-31 (which I'm doin on my A) or the 30-31 with round holes in it. The one bigO posted earlier isn't bad, its more descrete then most which looks better to me, although the maltese cross thig is pretty played out these days. If you really wanted to do a spade I think it would look way better to do it bigO's way then the one you posted. I tend to like cleaner cars without alot of stuff that really doesn't need to be there though

I have a 31 sedan that has a 33 ford truck visor on it....the 33 is the same width, the truck roof was cut straight across about 5 inches from the edge...weld to the windsheild post and to the panel over the door.... a truck windsheild frame or a model a windsheild frame will still work..... I don't have a picture

I probably made a error by trying to follow the theme of the original pickup visor which is like the model T style, it is wide and was only ever a frame that needed to be covered which I did not want to do so I wanted to try sheeting it and picked up on some stuff others had done.
I am happy with it but whether it was worth the effort I guess we will see when it is finished, however it is still a big wide visor which ever way you look at it.
Make a great air brake at least!

I think I am going to have to copy the bracing you put behind your visor.
I have been worried about my visor flexing at speed and I think your brace looks great thanks for the pics.

I agree..slick idea..especially since those A's didnt regularly get up to 70 or 80MPH..or even higher...that extra support is a smart idea

More than just support it actually looks good.
Did you put just 2 on it or 3?

I took a repro visor and cut it up, used the original ends supplied and just made up a strong center support bracket.

The piece with the spades cut into it was folded at the front leading edge in a way that also adds extra stiffening to prevent that flexing effect when driving at highway speeds.

It will be a while before I get to try it out, but I sure as hell dont want to be changing it later so I thought a little extra strength built in now should avoid going back to it later or being unhappy with it.

I like the look of a 1930 / 1931 visor on a 1928 / 1929, but to be honest I think the Chevys have better looking visors. I just like the look of them set in the way they are.

I got to agree with you regarding visors, it is just the rest of the Chevy body I dont really go for.

I really like that... I don't get into the drilled/modded visors much, I'm just welding mine on and smoothing into the rest of the body. Your's is just enough to take notice and know someone put some work into that without screaming "look at me!", very cl***y looking. Nice work!
