I've been dealing with a guy on a "model A" pu bed for about a year, trying to buy it from him, (site unseen) Yesterday he delivers it, I start to question if it is truely a Model A,(not being up on this) He says yes ,but if it isn't, it's worth more $$. We make a trade/ deal. After doing some research I find out it is a "T". Now I have a Model T box!!! I bought this to use on a 29 RPU project. My question is: Will it work on an "A" frame and how will it look? If anyone has done this and/ or has pictures, I'd sure like to see/ hear about it. Thanks
I thought the only difference was the location of the front stake pocket? Whether or not it will look good on your car depends on what you do with it.
There is not much difference between the two. Stake pocket and fender area, as mentioned above, and I think the mounting flange is slightly different too. I would have no reservations about using it at all.
the model T bed has that flap on the front for battery access. the model A does not. they are the same size. it will look fine on your A.
The easiest giveaway is the T has the half-moon fender area raised, and the A has a riveted fender mounting flange.
I ran into the same situation years ago. The T Bed has a low mounting flange on the bottom, the model A has a skirt along the bottom where the mounting blocks go underneath. I never measured to see if the wheel well is in the same spot. If it is you could build a riser to mount it at the correct height. I stored my T box away in the attic and found an A box for my truck.
Bump this ! just picked up a 1930 model A truck, and i just bought bed subrails that mount between the bed and the frame, but it looks like i will have to take that small riveted flange off to mount them?
