So, my 31 pickup cab was chopped when I got it. Was an old hot rod. I'm getting ready to chop a windshield frame for it.

I know the frame should be chopped (at the top 45° angles on each side) an equal amount to the roof chop. Trouble is Im not exactly sure how much the roof was chopped.

    So here are my questions:

I think the stock dimension from the inside of the roof edge down to the top of the sub rail should be 44 inches. Can anyone confirm/measure theirs for me?

I have no reference as to what the distance between the bottom center of the windshield frame and the cowl top should be. Can someone tell me that and maybe post a pic?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Here's something you might try.. Install the top hinge with the top of the windshield and mark the bottom edge of the 45* on the "A" post.. Then remove the top hinge.. Now slide the bottom part of the frame the best you can between the dash rail and vent ridge and see if you can mark the sides at the already mark on the "A" post.. I've never tried this but it might work.. Good luck...

I get what your saying but I can't fit the uncut frame under the visor. If I knew what the gap between the bottom center of the frame and the cowl top I'll have enough data, using part of what you suggested, to get me there. I think I really need to know that to make sure it will open and close without hitting the windshield opening in the body.

to the top of the subrail where the floor is flush to the bracket that ties the corner wood together is 44 inches

the other measurement is kinda hard to get. From the winshield hinge mount to the filler piece that runs under the windshield is 13 3/8.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks 44 is what I thought. The other measurement I wanted was from the bottom of the curved part of the frame to the tank top. It can't be +/- 1/2". The area you can see in this pic. The bottom edge of the face of the curved part of the frame top the tank top.

Hitchhiker measured his windshield for me. Bottom of frame is about 1/4" from tank top. With all these dimensions and can get this done so it works and looks right.

I know I can't be the only person that has bought a car that someone else has chopped and they had to collect the rest of the parts. Maybe this will help someone else out.
