I have a 1930 Ford Model A closed cab pickup. Yes, I am starting to put it back together ... frame is done. I want to replace the manual windshield wiper with an electric one. Speedway motors has a couple of models and J.C. Whitney has a half-dozen models. I know I can mount it through the top of the windshield frame like the manual one.

Has anyone mounted one of these aftermarket motors above the windshield, through the wood, and under the visor? Thanks.

This is pretty much what comes stock on thirties V8's--put together a a setup that will work with some repro '32-39 arm and blade so windshield opens properly and go to it. For my '32 truck, I have an elderly American Bosh motor that seems much sturdier and more powerful than current offerings and a Bob Drake '39 style arm that fits it and bends propperly when the air conditioner is opened up.

i set up one of the ****py power wiper motors off ebay with good results but i did have to cut down the wiper arm. i will post pics when im at the car tomorrow. it works good and the wiper parks out of the way. it takes alot of playing around to get it right but that what this is all about. 5. Don't know if this roadster pic will help since you have a closed car.

Give some thought to mounting the wiper motor at the bottom of the windshield.
Done on mine because the top mounted wiper cuts down on the view through the chopped windshield.

All that was required on the roadster was to enlarge the windshield pull-tab hole to 3/8" (check size to be sure, other brand wipers may take a different hole size.)

The wiper you see here is a Pacific Raingear.
Pricy little devil, but the important part is it's small, reversible for either side of the windshield (far as parking the blade goes) and has been dependable.
Although with the small blade it's not much help.
Use Rain-X, it does the job.

Fwiw - when the chrome plated windshield frame was drilled in the drill press the gl*** was already installed.
That meant the drill had to cut the gl*** as well as the frame steel.
I used a sharp 3/8" 5% Cobalt drill, went slow - not too much pressure - and the drill went through the frame steel just fine as well as cut a one third circle notch into the gl***.
I did block the frame up on a piece of plywood to protect the chrome as well as get it flat for drilling.
