Thats all for now! Stay tuned... Patch panels on the way, and lots of mocking up and frame work. After blasting will have a better idea of what stays or goes on these doors...
Yikes!! you should just have Windedexpress build you a couple new doors!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=732731
I saw that tech article, extremely informative... I have some 27 patches and skins... and I am a glutton for punishment Would you mind commenting on my questions posed earlier ?? TIA "juice drums along with Firestone Nostalgia 16-5 tyres for the front rims... I want to run 16-4.5/16-5 up front and 16-???/16-8 for the rears. What rear rim size do I need?? I wanted to go with Ford OE steelies from the 40s, what u guys think?? I was looking at 16.5 up front but apparently very unique/rare only on 41 merc, and 50's ford trucks... All kinda lip/ears/nubs and stuff on the inside outside to keep track of so I said screw it..."
You can run a 16" x 4" wheel both front and rear with bigs n' littles. They pop up for sale here frequently, although you may have to buy one at a time from 4 different HAMBers. A few places are making them, but I would steer you away from the common dual-lug-pattern wheels. They have 10 lug holes and two patterns. Unless you're running full caps they look strange. I went with the 5.00/5.25X16 on 16"X4" wheels up front and 7.50X16 on 16"X5' wheels in the rear of my coupe. I was originally going to use a pair of 16"X4 1/2" wheels in the rear the since they are much easier to find but I put an ad in the wanted section on both the H.A.M.B. and Fordbarn classifieds for the 16"X5" wheels and found them right away...
Great info guys! Thanks! Any idea if I will need spacers/offset etc for the rear end wheel set up I am running, (I will go with the 16/4.5 rear wheels)? I don't want to run into drum clearance issues. I am not really sure on what year or type of rear end it is. It appears to be a Ford 32, model A? It is a 5 on 5.5" Also will there be fitment issues if I choose steelies over 35 wire type wheels? I can probably get a good deal on some local 35 wire wheels. Thanks again! Whisky...
You won't have wheel to drum issues, but you may have tire to body issues depending on the rear end width. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Your rear axle is a '42-'48 model (note the sway bar mounts) with the stock hubs and brake setup. The early Ford 16" wheels with 5 on 5 1/2" dbc are a direct bolt on. If you choose to run the '35 wires, you will need a set of these to support the center of the wheel on the hub. MT Car Products/Support Rings The '42-'48 rear axle had the widest wheel to wheel width of all the ford banjo rear axles at 61"
