Trying to recycle as many old wires as possible… grabbed a test end. bent 90 deg wings whilst holding in the dedicated crimper
One down and 7 to go! I need to review the firing order again to make the correct lengths. Will also wait after the alternator and belts are fitted. I will also check for continuity
I see you have 216 autolite plugs. I think they may be wrong for your heads. They are 1/2 reach, if I remember right the Offy's take a 3/4 reach plug. Running the 216's is like trying to run a cartridge fire plug. It's way up in the head.
I went and got a 216 plug and I only have 59a offy heads to try it in. They do look a little short. But not as bad as I thought they would be. Reds headers says the 216 will work. Speedway says in it Q&A to use 271H10, never heard of it. But a discussion here may be a better plug choice. Hot Rods - Spark-plugs for Offy heads on 8BA Flathead | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com)
So I've decided to build an engine break-in stand and run my flatty in, and prep for the other 2 flatties. I'm going to cannibalize one of my engine stands... More to follow on that. I will need y'alls help on the final engine set up. I have a decent idea of what I need to get this running but I certainly need input. I need to feel like I'm doing something. I'm getting so depressed here not being able to do shit. It's driving me mental. I have a mini build list and hope for your help.... @alchemy and @patmanta

Sure, whatever I can do! I'm not sure how much help I can offer other than encouragement and to say that your 2 to 1 intake is probably going to want to run straight linkage and not progressive. I usually see progressive come in on triples and that is a dual to one adapter so it might get wonky but I am no expert. I do have one of those in my bin earmarked for the 59ab I have in pieces somewhere for later though so I am going to be very curious how this works for you. My 8BA is still at the machine shop.
I don't like electronic distributors (points are more traditional, and that's what we are here for, right?). I don't like the diecast potmetal fuel blocks (find a nicer cast aluminum one). I don't like aluminum fuel line (I always use the same steel tube you buy for brake line). I don't like Speedway fake Strombergs (buy real Strombergs). I think there is a Holley regulator in the 0 to 4 pound range that would work better with Strombergs. Not sure on the Powergen fit with your fan - remind us what fan you want to use.
Ok I will get the original one’s. It is the original 4 hole fan. I was getting the electronic distributor for the engine break in stand?? Reasoning behind the steel line please? Do you have part number for Holley regulator? Will get the cast aluminum block then. Thank you @alchemy View attachment 5227748
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Holley-12-804-Adjustable-Fuel-Pressure-Regulator-1-4-PSI,383.html Tons of original fans out there, about every other year in the flathead era got a different version. Show a pic please. I just don't trust copper or aluminum lines on a car - I've read about cracking. Might be fine on your stand, but why risk it. Steel lines are cheap at the store and have flared ends so you can screw them into your pump and regulator. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Edelbrock-1280-Fuel-Block,108900.html I guess the cast aluminum blocks are rather expensive. The diecast would be fine for the stand, but I'd pony up for the aluminum on the car.
Most aluminum intakes use 5/16" coarse threads. You can find studs with coarse on both ends, or fine on the top.
Cowl is from a model A air compressor... I will put a cylindrical gas tank where the semicircles are. Will polish up the nickel plate and drill holes for my gauges. This is a very heavy duty trolley. I will weld the back end of the flathead engine stand on one end.
