Okay guys really need your help here... My frame is scrap so I need to start from ground zero live and learn I guess... Any ways, I called the guys at speedway and the technical support was about as helpful as tits on a boar hog What T frame do I need? My options are, Bare T frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Bare-Model-T-Frames,25112.html Traditional T frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Traditional-T-Frame,24798.html?parentDisplayId=25112 Deluxe T frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Deluxe-27-T-Bucket-Frame-Kit,24789.html Nostalgia T frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Nostalgia-23-T-Bucket-Frame-Kit,24804.html Basic T bucket frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Basic-1923-T-Bucket-Frame-Kit,24810.html Deluxe 23 T bucket frame: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Deluxe-23-T-Bucket-Frame-Kit,24793.html I want to buy as a package, so would appreciate rear end options, I was thinking of this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Winters-Grand-National-Rearends,1287.html These rear brakes: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Wilwood-Rear-E-Brake-Kit-GM-12-Bolt-Axle,35784.html These front brakes: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Chevy-Wilwood-Front-Brake-and-Steering-Kits-48-Inch-Axle,5443.html This front susp: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Spring-Over-4-Drop-Front-End-for-Chevy-Spindles,3142.html This rear suspension: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Deluxe-Coil-Over-Rear-Suspension-Chrome,15373.html ANY AND ALL INPUT IS WELCOME! How would you do it if u were me, etc... I want a old skool look with modern performance... I am running a 53 flatty with a T5. So suggestions on engine mount kits, and transmission mount kits are also needed! Please fill me in, I am a sponge willing to learn. Fabrication and welding is not an issue so more exotic ideas are also welcome... Thanks for your time!
Hey Whisky, I can tell you from first hand experience that Classic Street Rod Mfg in Ontario, CA builds the best chassis around. These guys do precision work and are reasonably priced. GREAT riding, GREAT handling, and I've had the opportunity to ride in a number of hot rods over the years. They're actually the guys who build all of So Cal Speed Shop's chassis. You could order your chassis the exact way you want (with a COMPLETE loaded 9" with your choice of gears and brakes, unlike Speedway) and order the front end with disc brake or So Cal's drums (disc in a drum housing?). They will build a chassis with a front or rear Z if you ask. Plan for an A chassis and you can rebuild your floor to work with the new rails. You're going to have to anyway, right.
Okay so I call these guys up seemed real nice, but said they couldn't help me as they don't deal with Model T cars... I explained my sitch but the guy insisted I buy from someone else... So TCI it is I guess They have a chassis build quoter thingy that spits out a quote if u put info in... Anyhoo, I am waiting to hear back from them...
I am enjoying this thread a lot, your posts have a lot of detail. Here's a link to a little more T frame info right here in-house, check out post #17. Depending on your time frame, (pun intended) you might want to consider fabricating your own, and it will be exactly what you want. Further searches will turn up even more info. http://66.154.44.164/forum/showthread.php?t=438877&showall=1 One technique to get "the Look" you want is to mock up your body at its intended height, along with the actual wheel/tires you are going to use set to the wheelbase you want, then add the actual axles, and to work the frame up from there along the key dimensions from the frame plans. Just my 2 cents.
Another picture painted blue... It is the Deluxe 27 T bucket from Speedway. The Body is channeled 3 inches or so, so it will be in the weeds with a rubber rake...
Rear end... I will need to create a custom drive shaft... Any clues on how I go about doing such a thing?
Lot's of bad experiences with Wilwood's stuff out there. The only set I've had were perfect, but I keep hearing nightmare stories about other people's experiences and the company's complete lack of customer service. Just FYI, take it for what it's worth.
