Hay all ran across a intresting deal last night

I bought 2 model AA axles from a old fellow and i belived they where the same one was a complet setup, but worn out + a broken wishbone, with 20 inch wheels leading me to belive this was a 28-29 axle and basicly the same as a regular A model axle, but with more springes. the other one was in much better shape but minus the drums and hubs, i asumed they where the same and my measurments of the axle was the same lenght so no biggy, but when i went to put the broken up axles drums and hubs on the decent axle the bearings wouldent fit..not even close...so my question is what do i have here, if the spindles on my good axle are not the same as the one on the bad axle.? where there changes in 30-31 or later to beef up the spindles strength. if this isent clear ask and i will try to clarify for you...if you need pics i can get them tonight hopefully :)

    thank you all :)

The early 1928 AA trucks did use the same axle & spindles as the cars. At some time the size of the I beam was enlarged and so were the spindles. Try to swap around king pins and you'll see the differance.
