Does anyone have pics to look at? Are there certain years that go together better for the curvature of the cowl on a model A?
I have only seen one & it was an a very early (AR) 28 tudor sedan. It was on the drivers side cowl panel about 6" up from the splash apron if I remember. I just reread your post & I think you are talking about cutting one in the top of the gas tank. The one I described came from the the factory in 28.
the bare metal 30-31 coupe that socal built and that is in the rodders journal had a 32 cowl vent instaled.
I put one on my '30 sedan. I will try and put some pics up. I used the brookville piece; as long as you cut the extra off and only leave about a half inch around the outside you barely need to shape anything. -drZ
You can also do the old trick of punching a louver in an old gas cap. Leave the stock cap on in wet or cold weather and pop the "vented" cap on when you want air.................or just open the damn winddshield!
Years ago I put one out of an about '30 Studebaker into a '29 Model A. The Stude lid is smaller than a 32 ford which I think would look a little too big on the smaller '29 cowl. Of course, finding a Stude to get one outta might be tough.
