Thanks. I always liked 58's but they seemed limited on the type of grilles people were using. The 54 grille caught my eye since I was trying to do the 58 like a mild 60's custom. I did have to cut it but the fit and look was just what I wanted and provided several years of "thumbs up" from people when I was cruising.
I do have another 54 grille and I almost used it im my current 56. So far I like the 56 with the stock grille so maybe I will hang on to the 54 grille for the next one.

I built this model of a 37 Chevy coupe back in the 70's to see if I would like the two tone paint combination for a rumble seat coupe I was building. It worked and the real car turned out great.

    That's incredible.

My first impulse was to think it might not have been in the 50's because there were no kits like that until the 60's. Then I looked closer. It seems to be nearly all scratch built and the styling cues are most def '50's. I'm guessing that it may have been built by a relatively amatuer because the finish is lacking finesse. But never-the-less, the builder's enthusiasm and hot rod knowledge is very sophisticated, tasteful. And better looking than most of the real rods during the Mid-'50's.

It was my father that built the 32 three window. He carved it out of balsa wood and it came out pretty good considering that he didn't have one to look at at the time and carved it from memory. He hand painted it with a brush and used tires and wheels from a toy car and used the bottoms of kitchen table legs for hub caps. He built a real one like a couple of years later (around 1960) and drove it for a couple of years and sold it. When I got a chance to trade for a steel body about 10 years ago, I built one to look like his and this one will stay in the family.

My facination for 37 Chevy's several years ago led me to build a Sedan Delivery. Since my kids were young at the time we chose to make it a window delivery. The model came first and then I designed and built the real car.
I kind of miss this one. It was a fun build. It ended up in Indiana and then California where a guy by the name of Marty Fisher re-did the car. Last siting was for sale in a magazine for way more than I sold it for.
