I know it's an early start, but couldn't wait to show off my finished "first attempt" at constructing a model to resemble my '30 Ford coupe:)
I used two different models to build this:
1:25 scale AMT/ERTL "American Graffiti" 1932 Deuce coupe kit and the 1:25 scale Revell "Amigo pack" Ratrods Ford T-Bucket Kit
I'm not too stoked on how the scallops came out and should have taken more time on them:(

    here's a few different angles...

...can't wait to build it in the larger 1:8 scale next!

OK, is this new, the Sunday model post? Hey coupe those tires on your model, are they after market. I like the diamond (dirt track) tread pattern. Geoff aka Whodaky

I built this model for a friend a number of years ago. It is a model of an actual car. These are a number of construction shots of the model. I will post images of the completed model another time. Geoff aka Whodaky [IMG]

Revell made an actual '30-31 coupe in 1/24 scale a few years ago. You may be able to find one on E-bay. Did you use laquer on the body? Laquer tends to craze on plastic; looks good on interior parts though. Nice first try.

    Geoff,
the tires are from the 1:25 scale Revell "Amigo pack" Ratrods Ford T-Bucket Kit and yes this is a new post a few talked about starting for model builders to show off their projects on sundays... your model build came out sweet:)

    Delaware George,
Damn, that is a small one... pretty cool though!

    pigpen,
I did end up getting a Monogram 1/24 scale '30 Ford coupe Model from 1974 on Ebay after i had already started this one, so i may end up trying again with this kit later:) ... I've never seen the Revell one your talking about yet:(
as for the paint i used on my 1:24 scale model... It's the same Krylon spray can of "3502 Hunter Green Satin" paint color that was actually used on my real car that i had an extra can of laying around, so the paint is a dead on match!

thanks for sharing your model builds:)

A 49 Ford I was working on to resemble my 1:1 coupe but I changed stuff on the real car faster than I could on the model!

  10. Hey Cab, You da Man!

Thanks for leading off the new weekly "Model Car Sunday" post. Way to go!

The model looks tuff, as does your ride.

Now I gotta get going and finish some of my projects.

I'm going to a model car swapmeet in the morning in Tinley Park,Il. I'm hoping to see if any of the old AMT A/FX cars are available yet. They all gonna be re-released this month. I'll post my findings here tommorrow night.

It's not new but it's the last one I did. Obviously it's a Hotwheel but it has Johnny Lightning tires. the salt is actually from the 50th Bonneville.

    Paul,
Thanks and thanks again so much for the link to whizzericks vintage sticker tech post... that Rules! Need to practice the Illustrator program skills now.
I'll have to go that route next time, for a cleaner look:)

Yesterday I went to a local toy show in san jose and saw alot of those same small vintage and new hotwheels cars for sale in thier boxes and some loose ones of cool kustoms, hotrods and traditional cars... I only ended up getting a sky blue '32 5 window coupe hotwheel for $10 and a sweet plastic Rat Fink bank from a friend. It was overwhelming how much stuff was there for sale!

Coupe de Cab. Sorry. I had a senior moment. I was refering to the 1/24 scale Monogram coupe kit. I once used two kits to make a four door sedan. Put a Lincoln motor in it and lots of chrome; called it "Hot Rod Lincoln" after the song. I entered it in a model show and at least placed if I remember right. You can use 1/25 parts on a 1/24 car and you can't tell much differance. Another trick. The inside liner of a See's candy box looks like 1/25 scale diamond tuck upholstery in white pearl no less. I used to use it on model seats back on the day. Also, white courderoy works well for tuck and roll.

I **** at posting pics, but, here is one that came out well and did pretty decent at the Copperstate model contest.

Any of you guys ever see the latemodel F-150 Bonneville model at Mooneyes (maybe not, maybe Chico hid it from sight?) in their display case? I built it about 8 years ago or so (Jeez, it's been a while) but was painted in Moon style, sitting on the the salt, Kirk's nifty model reminded me of it.

heres my 31 sedan I'm working on, haven't done too much to it, Z'd, raked chop, channleded. Also parked next to a American Graffiti 32 diecast that I painted, going to finish detailing sometime, I did a satin black and air brushed the flames with a stencil.
Theres also a 96 impala in the back that I channeled, made lower suspension, stepnotch, etc for and its shaved for the most part but gotta finish that too.
Maybe these cold winter months I'll start playing around with them again, since the garage isn't heated.

The Monogram 37 Ford Tudor kit had a louvered hood and the fit was almost perfect on the 41 Plymouth.
