All right Model Dudes - I haven't huffed plastic cement or sliced myself to the bone with a dull exacto in years and seeing all this stuff is an inspiration to try my hand at modeling again. Maybe it's the dark days and freezing nights, but cabin fever is getting to me and I want to build something with my hands in the stuffy confines of my basement (perfect for professional model cement huffing).
I'd like to think that as I've gotten older my patience has grown and that I wont put my fist down on my fugly creation when the teeny-tiny gearshift snaps in my fingers, plunges through the "floor" of my car and snaps the all-too flimsy plastic frame in two, scattering sticky and horribly painted pieces all over creation and into the mangled shag of my mom's carpet. I'd like to think that.
So I'm going to haul out my enamel Testors paints that have surely separated into useless globs that would never mix properly even if I could unscrew the caps and try it again.
    But I have a question.
Does ANYONE out there make a Model A Coupe? I checked, AMT/Ertl, Monogram, Revell and done a general search to no avail. There's 1500 32's out there in different incarnations, a couple Model A pickups and I once spotted a roadster and a tudor, but I've got my heart set on a coupe.
Unless you guys can sugget some secret source for a Model A coupe, preferably a 30-31, I would be most grateful.
I might buy a Model A pickup and a Deuce coupe and mangle them together in the hopes that noone looks too close and I buy the same scale model kits.
I look forward to hearing what you know, and who knows. I might just be proud enough of my sticky ball of melted plastic to post a picture or two on the board here. Shit, I'll probably be high enough from the glue huffing to actually be proud of the monstrosity I will make.
    Thanks.

It is soooo cool to see some people still hold on to what used to be America's favorite pass time. Some really great stuff being built, I have been building for 30 years and will never stop. It takes patience and creativity, both of which the kids today don't have.

Check Jimmy Flintstone for a Model A coupe in resin.

In case anybody in the SE New England area is interested, 21st annual MASSCAR show is coming Sunday March 21, 2009, they moved it up by a month, thats what I read in SAE. I've missed the last few years but hoping to go this year, got a few non-HAMB style kits i hope to get ready.

Gigantor; here's one I've had not-in-progress for awhile based on Monogram's 1/24 '30 Model A Coupe, chopped with a bunch of parts scavenged from other kits. A nice old kit with a lot of potential...

Froghawk, excellent models. What kit has those Olds Spinners in it? Thanks in advance.

  11. Froghawk,

You did a great job fixing the "trim line" on your A- any thoughts of making some resin copies?

Gave all of mine away decades ago to a Used Book Store (Damn!) Saw Issue #1 at recent Boston show for $175.
