Hey guys I'm looking to dig up some information on a full size mock up Richard Carroll did of one of his models. Possibly called the alien invader? My uncle just purchased the body and wants to build it as close to Richard's vision as possible. Btw, if you are into 60s crazy custom rods you should Google Richard Carroll as his models were wild and well done

Subscribed. Very interested to see what transpires with this.

  5. I remember his stuff in the 60's, but lost interest as he got weirder!
Was there anything in Car Modeler or R&C, might be worth a try.

I remembered seeing his models in the mags when I was a kid, I did a Google search after I saw this thread, apparently, in later years, he quit building models completely and started building cars, but I was unable to find any pictures of cars he had built. My guess is they were probably pretty out there.
I also found what looks to be his obit.

I found this one he made that bares a closer resemblance but my uncle says that this model is from the late 60's and the body he has is the early 60's

I know that Your uncle bought it from my friend Scott Jezak. Scott has owned that for quite a long while, Maybe 20 years or more? I think that he would be the best source of info on it. the Ebay auction you got it from states that he has the model car magazine it was featured in. Did you receive that with the body? I know nothing more about it other than Scott sent me a photo of it in the 90's looking for info. That thing is really cool. good luck with the build.

I don't believe he did get the magazine. I haven't looked at the body in person yet either so what I've posted is all I have seen of it. From what my uncle says the body is quite small and he said the guy he bought it from was quite large, like 6' 5 or so, that fit your friends description?? no way he would have fit in it had he built it.
