Is there a way to use a stock model a hub with ford truck wheels lugs are short and barley can get a thread or two, thoughts on changing wheel studs, heard they need to be pressed in. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks colt

Done right they're swedged in place. There's a particular type of hole saw to remove them without messing up anything and then it takes a pretty hefty press to my understanding to properly install new ones.

If you remove the protruding nub or ring just inside the stud so the wheel has a flat surface to sit on you will gain about a quarter inch. Stock Ford hubs from 28 to 35 had these nubs so retrofitting a later wheel to earlier hubs required spacers outside the stud, but as you found sometimes the spacers don't leave enough stud length.
