So...yesterday my daughter and i went to a very cool antique Model T and A car show (same place the Strangers cc have their car show every year) at Kelly Park in San Jose, CA. and caught some pics of some cars that were brought there. I went looking to ask some questions about Model T windshields and tops for my '27 RPU and came across these very cool speedsters too... enjoy! Here's my same '27 RPU i'm working on in stock mode though, very cool to see where my ride came from not sure the year, but it was an odd one, British? Rows and rows of Model A's some cool roadsters that caught my eye... ...and the Speedsters, these were awesome! 1919 Model T, I saw the gentleman who drove this in with his wife, he was 96 years old... classic! These are just a few pics i took of the many cars that showed up, they also had some very old antiques motors with one piston running them, with a water bowl on the top as a radiator, pretty cool stuff as i got to show my lil girl how motors first started from and ran to what v8 motors are today in Hotrods. It's a fun show for sure and a great history lesson on Henry Ford and he classic rides we all use today! grace and peace† cab
That 3 wheeler is a Morgan Steve. I love that show, I was all set to go but got injured at work Saturday so the combo of only having 1 arm & strong pain killers wouldn't have made for good pictures!! Thanks for sharing.
Steve,, that steering wheel pictured,, there pretty Sick!,, a friend had one on his speedster, notice the handle at the bottom and the release pin to the right,, the steering wheel slides up, he said it was for guys who were alittle larger, made it easy for them to get in and out
Yup, that's a "fatman" wheel- does just what Seller Equipped said. It was a really popular aftermarket item for T's. The speedster in this pic is incredible! I found his build pics on Fotki (I think) a couple years ago and right clicked like a madman!
I'd love to have one... not fat, just 6'6"- kinda hard to fold me into a Flivver ! just can't justify the $300+ they seem to be going for right now.
I think thats the coolest "fatman" wheel I have ever seen. Looks like you can lock it at any spot in the travel?
wow!!! i would have looked at those cars for hours...... how long did you get to stay before your daughter was ready to leave????
I like those Fat Man steering wheels. A very neat accessory. Just make sure you check out their construction before using! A guy here in the Dallas Model A club had a Fat Man style steering wheel that the Pin broke on while he was driving his restored Great Race roadster down a two lane highway. Needless to say, he lost control of his steering, and when he hit the brakes, the car darted across the highway (luckily not into on coming traffic) and into a cow field first taking out a barbed wire fence. He was ok, but the car got a full repaint.
We if you think that was over load, you should have been at Fords Green Field Village in Deaborn, this week end. They had 400+ cars and trucks, all kinds, all years up tp 1932. With all the old buildings all the old cars running everwhere, Ladies and Gents in period dress, and the old steam train in the back ground, it was a sight that will be remembred for the rest of my life. We stayed for another hour or so after she said she wanted to leave 10 minutes after we got in the parking lot walking to the car show
