This past weekend I bought a basically stock '26 T roadster that runs and drives and I'm selling off a bunch of my other projects to work on it. I'd like to modify it a bit to make it faster (top speed of 30 doesn't do it for me) and I was wondering if there were any other guys running T four banger engines and what they were doing to make it faster. Some info and a source for Ruxtell rearends would be good, and is anyone producing speed equipment, like heads and such? Am I the only one dumb enough to want to hop up a stock T engine?
I bought a NEW (not reground) cam from Bill Stipe. Its supposed to be good for 7 more horsepower. I got a new aluminum high compression head, Its supposed to be good for 7 horse. Do not use hi compression pistons. I plan to make my own header and intake for two of the best carburetors in the world--SU. Maybe I will be double the original 20 HP. I think at that point it would be good to put brakes on it. I think the Ruxtell is a lower gear. Go to MTFCA and MTFCI forums. You will learn a lot.
I visit hotforhotfours.com every now and then since I've been entertaining the idea of a hop't up fourbanger. I'll PM ya a couple things I've found for sale that I've been watching but will not be able to afford. I love the idea of "soupin" the original Ford motor. Drew
I have found a few that I could afford that were kinda gone, The real nice one's bring real nice money to though. I'm not worried about chrome and stuff, but just haven't found one that wasn't rusted out yet. I'd make my own if I had the tools and the talent to do it, but right now I can't seem to grasp either.
