Hello everyone, if any of you have picked up the latest (Oct 2011) issue of Hot Rod magazine, there is a bitchin little 27 T coupe in it. This is of special interest to me since i happen to have a 27 tall T as my first official hot rod project that I havent been able to get off the ground (literally). What I find fascinating about this car is that it isnt sectioned at all...The body even rides on top of the frame, but just behind the front radius arm pivots the frame is raked up, thereby giving the body a rake and allowing the car to ride very low, but still have all the room in the cab that Henry intended. Except, of course, for the chopped top. I searched for a weblink to the article, but couldnt find it on HR's website. This appears to my in-experienced eye to be a very simple way to go about things, and I'd like to hear opinions of those more experienced.
I camped next to that car a few weeks ago at the Relix Riot. It's bad-ass!!! Here is a link to the build thread by bobbleed. The car is known as T-rantula. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75225&highlight=rantula. Enjoy!!!
its called a "Z'd" or "zeed" frame. basically the frame rail is built with a couple of angled cuts and a short chunk of rail that raises the forward rail section. look in the classifieds, there are similar frames for sale.
Thanks guys!! I do love that car...the way I understand them, this frame isnt Z'ed...it just has a pie-cut, he spread it to make an angle, and then welded it back up. It's just a raked frame with a kick-up in the back for the rear suspension. Other than that it looks like a basic speedway T frame. I just dig it cuz it give the car a tough look, but isnt channeled, and is simple. Thanks!!
