Can anyone tell me the capacity of these Model T fuel tanks? The first is a 1910-1911 "torpedo" tank. The second is a 1920-1926 "oval" tank. Thanks, Jim
Well, I did some searching for you, found this site: http://www.modelt.ca/specifications-fs.html It had some specs. and it said that the fuel tank capacity for the cylindrical tank is 10 gallons.
Did some more digging on the oval tank, and I found this site: http://www.gasalleystreetrods.com/gastanks.html And it looked like to me, that the oval tank (not stretched, which I think is 28"?) also has a 10 gallon capacity.
The big one is approx. 16 gallons. (25.5" x 14" x 14") The oval tank is about 10 gal. Unless you get one of my "special" extended versions.
Don't know about the top tank, but he oval tank looks exactly like the ones we use on our roadsters. I believe they are ~8 gallon tanks.
Side Valve's tanks are nice, and the extended are up to 13 gallons. http://www.thehotrodcompany.com/shopnow/show_dept.asp?dept_id=78 Rich
a cubic foot =7.48 gallons...1,728 cubic inches Volume =Pi over 4, X d2h.....d is diameter, h is height, PI is 3.1416..use all corresponding measurments...if inches stay in inches..if in feet stay in feet..etc..
Does this one come with the mounting straps/feet like pictured above? I didn't see them on your website. Thanks, Jim
I can get one made like that but I do not recommend it. Those straps are riveted to the tank - that means mounting brackets are part of the tank. Even a little frame or body flex could compromise the structure of the tank. The one I like to sell does not have the mounting straps riveted to the tank and I feel is a little bit safer. Heres a pic of some mounting straps a customer fabricated for mounting the big tank:
