I have a lead on a Model T coupe (never did find an A coupe after selling my A sedan) and need some help assessing the car. I am only looking at the body. -are there critical areas on a T coupe that need to be somewhat intact to salvage? -what was the thickness of the original sheet metal? I plan on taking a close look (measurements if possible) to see how much is left before making any offer. -any key T parts to look for? Any help would be great. Thx and enjoy xmas out there.
Nothing much special in terms of assesment that you wouldn't do for any other car. Assuming your talking about a 26/27 here is some info: 1. Sheet metal thickness was approximately 19ga. 2. Decklids are rare and tend to be expensive. There are some aftermarket inner panels but they suck.. 3. Doors are expensive and even more rare than the decklid. They interchange with model A pickups and it seems there are less doors than cars. Patch panels are readily available.. 4. Most patch panels are readily available. I don't believe full quarters are but that's about all that isn't available that you couldn't easily fabricate. 5. These years of T have a very decent steel substructure unlike prior years which used wood. Good jambs and subrails will provide a good base for your build. Good luck. Let me know if you need any help or advice.
