in the latest issue of rod and custom I saw a chevy modified w/an early ford rear. it also has a model t spring. i know the t spring is supposed to be 1 3/4 wide. i would like to use the same setup in my dodge roadster w/ a 41 ford rear. any help would be appreciated

I'm looking for a similar answer only I'm attempting to run a 46 rear. Does anyone out there know how to set up a early to mid 40's rear with a T spring?

the only problem with t springs on the 40-41 rear ends, the rear is really soft, i meen it wants to have like 10" of travel i finally ripped it out of my roadster and put an A spring back on the 41 rear end, it rides perfect now!

  4. You could grind the Forged spring hangers back to the correct width. The 46-48 rear end spring perch spacing is about 47". Less than the earlier ones. To close, I suspect, for a stock T spring.

  5. T springs are SOFT. I have several spares, when I built the touring I had to add a couple leaves.

thats what I was thinking referring to the 46-48 rear. The model t spring seems to be pretty wide. Would a guy go about it by narrowing the T spring? Also how many leaves would one add to make it not quite as soft for a t sedan?
